So I have been reading a lot lately and thought I would do some book reviews. I never liked reading all throughout school but now that I get to pick the books I LOVE IT!
The first book I am going to review is Matched.
First off I Loved this book! It takes place during a dystopian future where everything in your life is controlled by the government. You are told what you eat, where you work, where you live, who you marry, and even when you die. The main girl in this book is named Cassia. She had just turned 17 and is receiving her match. At this point in the book she sees nothing wrong with the way her life is going and how much the government controls. She actually is enjoying it!
Once she receives her match she looks at his information and finds out she got matched with someone that lives in her own town (which is very rare) and its her best friend Xander.
While she was looking at the picture of him displayed on her screen it suddenly goes black and then flashes another boys face who she knows as Ky. This is where she starts wondering if the world really isn't perfect and the government does make mistakes. She loves Xander but now the curiosity sits in if she was meant to be with Ky. She finds out that she is not allowed to be matched with Ky because he is a Aberration. He got his status because of his father leading people who lived in the Outer Provinces.
From here on the book goes through how she deals with the government and being matched with two guys even though she wasn't suppose to be.
There also is a part in the book where it talks about her grandpa and how she goes to his Final Banquet. The final banquet is when the family can go see their loved one on their last day that they will live, which is their 80th birthday. I thought this part in the book was interesting because everyone knew what age they would die. They say in the book they picked 80 because once you are older than that you have a greater chance of getting sick or a disease and you can't be cured because you are too old.
There were so many parts in the book where you were on edge and just as confused as she was, and you also fall in love with both of the guy characters.
This series is a Trilogy, so there are 2 more books to read. The second one is out and is called "Crossed" (which I am reading now) and the third is "Reached" which will be released in November.
